Bamboo is the hottest trend in “hardwood” flooring and we love this very attractive floor!
Bamboo flooring comes as “solid” boards or engineered planks. It can be nailed down or floated over existing substrates. It comes in a natural blond or darker amber color that is created when the sugars in the bamboo caramelize during the kiln drying process. Strand or Woven bamboo is made from the bamboo waste generated in the milling process. This “waste” material is processed and compressed into very durable, dense large planks that are then cut into tongue and groove flooring boards.
Woven or Strand bamboo is twice as dense and hard as regular Moso bamboo. It is suitable for high traffic areas and light commercial spaces. We keep this product in stock to meet the high demand.
Tropical bamboo is a different species of bamboo, it is distinctive in appearance and is harder than regular bamboo but not as tough as woven or strand bamboo.
Moso “regular” bamboo is a beautiful floor for lower traffic areas or for people who are easier on their floors – take their shoes off, no large dogs, etc.
Bamboo has a rich texture with thin strips of varying color linked by bamboo nodes or joints. It is available in horizontal and vertical grains. Horizontal grain planks reveal the nodes and have a more distinctive bamboo appearance while vertical grain planks show smaller nodes for a more refined, elegant look. Bamboo is available in 2 natural colors: blonde and a carbonized amber tone created when the sugars in the bamboo brown during the kiln drying process. Because this is not a surface stain, the flooring retains its original color even after sanding. Bamboo can also be stained to offer a wider variety of shades. warranties:
Underfoot Floors Inc. guarantees installation of our flooring products for one full year to original purchaser from date of installation.
DURABILITY – Woven bamboo is very durable because it expands and contracts very little. This floor outlasts other wood choices because it is twice harder than oak and twice more sustainable than an average hardwood floor. You’ll love the low-maintenance care and smooth surface under your feet!
ENVIRO-FRIENDLY & SUSTAINABLE – Save our forests and support green products.
Bamboo is attractive and enviro-friendly to boot! Being a grass, not a tree, timber bamboo is a highly renewable resource because it matures in less than 6 years and is harvested over & over from the same plants. The coating materials and adhesives are water-based, so your home environment is free of toxic gasses.
COST AFFORDABLE – Bamboo is available in a wide price range. Many are less expensive, more durable and easier to install than hardwood floors. So it is possible to get a beautiful bamboo floor for a cost no greater than the average oak floor.
